Okuma's Latest HMC Ideal for Large Parts; Features Next-Gen Energy Technology

Okuma America Corporation has introduced the MA-8000H, the latest addition to the company's horizontal machining center lineup. This new CNC machine was designed for greater productivity when manufacturing large parts, without compromising machining capacity, reliability, or accuracy.

The MA-8000H will make its first appearance in the Americas at IMTS 2022.

Machine Versatility and Range

The MA-8000H horizontal machining center is a versatile machine designed for a wide range of machining applications from heavy-duty to high-feed machining. The machine's impressive work envelope and expansive travel ranges (X axis: 1,400 mm, Y axis: 1,200 mm, Z axis: 1,350 mm), coupled with a highly rigid bed and cast-in ball screw mounts for highly accurate drive and positioning, make the MA-8000H ideally suited to cut medium-to-large workpieces.

Additionally, powerful spindle options effectively handle materials across the metal spectrum.

Impressive Features

The MA-8000H is engineered with Okuma's proprietary Thermo-Friendly Concept, a feature that practically eliminates thermal deformation during the machining process. The machine also includes an integrated thru-spindle coolant suction feature to mitigate excess coolant usage when machining functions have abated.

Additionally, the machine is equipped with an enhanced chip evacuation system with in-machine washing and a new sludgeless coolant tank design that reduces coolant replacement cycles and tank maintenance needs.

Sustainable Features Onboard

At IMTS, the MA-8000H will be equipped with Okuma's next-generation energy management technology -- CO suite plus. This new smart technology helps to manage energy usage of the machine and peripheral devices, ultimately reducing CO2 emissions. The ECO suite plus technology will now become available on all Okuma machines.

Automation Friendly

The MA-8000H has been thoughtfully designed and is well-suited to adopt automation systems such as Automatic Pallet Changers (APCs), Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), and a variety of robotics to enhance productivity even further.
